5 Tips for Home Sellers in Today’s Market

While this may not be a comprehensive approach to preparing your home for sale, we’ve created a list of tips for you along with a simple checklist you can follow to get ready for this huge step.  This includes knowing how much is my home worth

 

Step 1: Choose the right realtor. It’s really important to find someone who can handle the very important task of selling your home. The good news is that you don’t need to look any further. Step 2: Prepare the interior of your home. Not only will this impress your buyers, but it will also help you prepare for your big move! Follow these easy steps to make your home look shiny and new:

  • De-clutter: go through and donate all the items you no longer use or at least organize your clutter into near storage bins
  • Make minor repairs, including replacing kitchen/bathroom hardware and updating curtains
  • Get a thorough, professional cleaning to make sure your home is in the best shape possible
  • Freshen pain wherever you can, including walls, ceilings, and molding

Step 3: Schedule Pre-Listing Home Inspections. You may know the story behind every stain on the carpet and every spot on the wall, but you may not know what’s happening behind the scenes and inside the pipes. Pre-listing home inspections will give you the most effective and up-to-date information about your home, down to the nitty gritty details. Be sure to include:

  • Camera inspection of all plumbing
  • Professional inspection of all electrical panels
  • Termite inspection

 

Step 4: Ramp up your home’s curb appeal. It may seem trivial, but the details matter to home-buyers. Think of what first attracted you to your home and what made you hesitate to move forward with the purchase. Have you always hated the ugly color of your front door or garage door? Do you need a few more plants to make the entrance look grand? Is your mailbox dented and rusty? Small adjustments to your home’s exterior can really draw people in and allow potential buyers to picture your home as their new home sweet home. Areas to focus on:

  • Foundation issues
  • Termites, other pests
  • Lead paint
